Fit

Who it’s for

  • Event organisers handing out a schedule, map and key information at the door
  • Clinics, councils and charities that need information leaflets people understand
  • Schools and colleges giving visitors a leaflet on open days and parent evenings
  • Venues and attractions that need a visitor leaflet in more than one language

Not the right fit if you need a sales brochure explaining your business; see flyer and brochure design. For a longer programme with many pages, see booklets and event guides. We design; you print.

Problems we fix

Why leaflets and pamphlets go unread.

  • 01

    Written like a report

Long paragraphs that nobody reads standing up.

  • 02

    The key fact is hidden

The time, the room or the phone number buried halfway down a panel.

  • 03

    Small type

Text sized to fit, not to be read in a dim hall or by older visitors.

  • 04

    A map nobody can follow

Floor plans with no “you are here”, no landmarks and tiny labels.

  • 05

    One language only

Visitors who can’t read the leaflet they were handed.

  • 06

    Last-minute changes

A speaker or room swap after the leaflets were printed.

In 1:10 · animated

Before we change anything, we check five things.

A short animated walk-through of the first checks in our audit. No sound needed: everything is on screen, and the transcript is below.

What we check first in a leaflet, an animated explainer of 1:10 with on-screen captions and controls to pause.

  1. What we check first in a leaflet Five checks on leaflets people read standing up.
  2. 1. Is it written like a report? Long paragraphs nobody reads standing up. (Example leaflet.)
  3. 2. Is the key fact easy to find? The time, the room or the phone number buried halfway down a panel. (Example leaflet.)
  4. 3. Can older visitors read it in a dim hall? Text sized to fit, not to be read. (Example leaflet.)
  5. 4. Can people follow the map? Floor plans with no “you are here”, no landmarks and tiny labels. (Example floor plan.)
  6. 5. Which languages do visitors need? Visitors who can’t read the leaflet they were handed. We check who actually comes. (Example visitor survey.)
  7. Then we fix them, in that order. Want this checked on your event? The free growth audit covers all five, in writing.

Our approach

Pamphlet design in five parts.

Part one is what people need in their hand. Pamphlet design for an event starts with the questions visitors ask the volunteers at the door: where do I go, what time is it, where are the toilets, who do I ask. We list those questions and put the answers first. Information leaflets work the same way: what is this, does it apply to me, what do I do next and who do I contact.

Part two is plain words. We write or edit the text in short sentences and everyday words, with headings that are questions or instructions, and we keep the essentials to a few lines each. Times, places and numbers sit in their own clear block, not inside a sentence. If a leaflet must carry a lot of detail, it carries the essentials and a QR code points to the full version online.

Part three is the layout and the fold. Most leaflets are an A4 or US letter sheet folded to A5 or into three panels, or a single A5 sheet, sizes set by ISO 216 or your local standard. We map what goes on each panel in the order it’s read, place the schedule and map where they’re easy to find when the leaflet is folded in a pocket, and keep nothing important across a fold.

Part four is readability. Body text is set at a size that’s comfortable for older readers, with strong contrast that meets W3C’s contrast guidance (4.5:1 for normal text), because halls and corridors are often poorly lit. Maps get a “you are here”, a few landmarks and labels large enough to read. Colour is never the only way information is shown, so it still works printed in one colour.

Part five is versions and changes. We build the leaflet so the parts most likely to change, such as the schedule, speakers and rooms, sit in one place, and we deliver language versions from the same layout. If something changes after printing, we make a one-page update sheet in the same style. You also get a screen PDF to send before the event. We design; you print. We deliver print-ready files made to your printer’s specification (size, bleed, colour profile and file format), and you place the print order with the printer you choose, so you see the printer’s price and proof directly.

The files are print-ready PDFs, usually PDF/X-4 as ISO 15930-7 defines it, with bleed and your printer’s colour profile. For large runs we note the paper weight that folds well without cracking, so your printer can quote it. Leaflets that are handed out by the thousand are worth a printed proof before the full run.

Where AI helps: drafting shorter versions of long text for us to edit, first-pass translations that a fluent speaker then checks, and simple icons. Where it doesn’t: the facts. A person checks every time, room, phone number and instruction against your schedule before the file goes to print. Client work is shown anonymously: see real client results on our results page.

Distribution matters for pamphlet design. Leaflets handed out at a door are read standing up in a few seconds, so the schedule and map must be visible after one fold; leaflets left on seats or in a welcome pack are read sitting down, so they can carry a little more. We ask how each pamphlet will reach people and design for that moment, and for big events we suggest a simple leaflet over a long pamphlet nobody finishes.

How we use AI here

Where AI helps (and where it doesn’t).

  • Shorter text

AI drafts shorter versions of long text for us to edit.

  • First-pass translation

AI drafts language versions that a fluent speaker checks.

  • Icons

AI helps draw simple icons in your style for maps and steps.

Where we don’t use it: times, rooms, numbers and instructions. A person checks every fact against your schedule.

What’s included

Deliverables, not promises.

  • Visitor questions

The questions people ask, answered first.

  • Plain-words copy

Short sentences, clear headings, facts in their own block.

  • Panel map

What goes on each panel, in reading order.

  • Readable layout

Comfortable type size, strong contrast, a usable map.

  • Language versions

From the same layout, checked by a fluent speaker.

  • Print and screen PDFs

Print-ready and a light version to send ahead.

  • Update sheet

A one-page change notice in the same style, if needed.

How we run it

Four steps, in this order.

Pamphlet design runs questions first, then words, layout and files. Typical timing: first designs within 2 workdays of the brief, each revision round within 1 workday, and print-ready files on approval.

  1. Step 1

    Questions

    What visitors need.

  2. Step 2

    Words

    Plain and short.

  3. Step 3

    Layout

    Panels, map, type.

  4. Step 4

    Files

    Print, screen, versions.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Can’t find yours? Ask on WhatsApp or by email and we’ll answer it.

What does pamphlet design include?

The visitor questions answered first, plain-words copy, a panel map, a readable layout and map, language versions, and print and screen PDFs.

What is the difference between a pamphlet and a leaflet?

The words are used loosely. A leaflet is usually a single sheet, flat or folded; a pamphlet is a short folded or stapled booklet. We design both.

What size is a leaflet?

Most are A5, or A4 or US letter folded into panels. Your printer’s sizes decide, and we build the file on their template.

Can you write the leaflet text?

Yes. We write or edit it in plain words with you, and you approve every fact, time and instruction before design is final.

Do you make leaflets in other languages?

Yes, from the same layout. AI can draft a first translation, but a fluent speaker checks it before it’s printed.

Do you print the leaflets?

No. We design and deliver print-ready files to your printer’s spec, and you place the order.

What if the schedule changes after printing?

The parts likely to change sit in one place, so a reprint is quick, and we can make a one-page update sheet in the same style.
