Shopify vs WooCommerce SEO: what each platform lets you control

Web development · Webflow
Webflow is a strong choice for design-led marketing sites that the team wants to edit visually. We have worked on Webflow sites for clients, in smaller volume than WordPress and Shopify. Our Webflow development covers CMS structure, interactions, custom code and React code components, SEO settings, speed and tracking, built by people who will also run the ads and SEO that send traffic to it.

Free Webflow audit
Three fields and you’re done. The PDF report shows what we found on your own pages and accounts, and the order we’d fix it in. It covers the problems we see most often:
Your PDF report comes by email. If you want to discuss going ahead after reading it, we’ll set up a video meeting. We use your details only for this audit.
Fit
Not the right fit for large online stores; for those we usually recommend Shopify. For a Webflow site that only needs a template installed, a Webflow template is the cheaper path.
Problems we fix
Hundreds of one-off classes, so a simple style change means editing dozens of elements.
Content that should be in Webflow CMS collections built as separate static pages, so updates take hours.
Missing meta descriptions, open graph images, alt text and redirects after page renames.
Animations on every element that make pages slow and distracting on phones.
Tracking and widgets pasted into page settings over the years, some running twice.
Form submissions sitting in Webflow instead of reaching the CRM or the sales team.

Our approach
Part one is structure. We clean up classes into a small, named system, so styles change in one place, and organize the Navigator so the next person can find things. Reusable components hold headers, footers, cards and calls to action, so a change appears everywhere at once.
Part two is the CMS. Blog posts, case studies, team members, locations and services belong in Webflow CMS collections with fields that match the content. Editors then fill in a form and the template handles the layout. When we take over a site, moving repeated static pages into collections is often the biggest time-saver.
Part three is custom code and code components. Webflow lets you add code to the head and body of the whole site or of single pages, and its Data API can register and apply scripts too. For anything interactive, Webflow’s code components are React components designers can place on the canvas with props and slots. We build those through our React development work, instead of pasting large scripts into page settings.
Part four is SEO. Every page and collection template gets its title, meta description, open graph image and alt text set properly; renamed pages get 301 redirects; the sitemap and canonical settings are checked; and Search Console confirms Google sees what we expect. Structured data is added where it adds meaning, such as articles, organization and FAQ content.
Part five is speed and tracking. Interactions are kept to the ones that help, images are sized and compressed, and third-party scripts are reviewed so each one runs once, in the right place. GA4, ad pixels and form conversions are set up and tested, and form submissions are routed to your CRM or inbox.
Part six is the honest platform check. Webflow is excellent for marketing sites and content-led businesses. For a large catalog with complex shipping and inventory, Shopify is usually the better home, and for complex content models with many integrations, WordPress may be. If your site has outgrown Webflow, we tell you and plan a move that protects rankings.
Taking over a Webflow site that someone else built is common, and it is where a Webflow developer with a wider development background helps most. We start with site access in your name, a list of every script and integration, and a map of the Webflow CMS collections and the templates that use them. Then we fix what puts leads at risk first, such as forms that reach nobody or tracking that stopped firing, before any redesign. Your team keeps editing the Webflow site the whole time, and every change goes into a short log you can read.
Most of our Webflow work happens alongside marketing. Landing pages for campaigns, new service pages for SEO and conversion tests are built by the same team that runs the landing pages and ads, so pages launch quickly and are tracked from the first visit.
Changes are made carefully. Webflow publishes all staged changes at once, which the Data API documentation also points out for scripts, so we stage work, review it on the staging domain and publish at an agreed time. Backups of the site’s previous state are kept through Webflow’s own versioning.

How we use AI here
React components for Webflow drafted with AI tools and reviewed before designers use them.
Meta descriptions and alt text drafted for many CMS items, then checked by a person who knows the business.
Exported pages and scripts summarized quickly, so clean-ups start from a full list.
Where it doesn’t: design decisions, brand voice and anything published to your site without a person reading it first. We don’t generate pages in bulk for search, because Google’s spam policies treat that as a problem.
What’s included
Classes, components and Navigator organized so changes happen in one place.
Content moved into Webflow CMS collections with fields that match it.
Scripts placed properly and React code components where interactivity is needed.
Titles, descriptions, open graph, alt text, redirects, sitemap and structured data.
Interactions, images and third-party scripts reviewed and trimmed.
GA4, pixels and conversions tested; form submissions routed to your CRM.
An honest view on whether Webflow still fits, and a plan if it doesn’t.
A short guide for editors and notes on anything custom.

How we run it
Audit first, then structure, then new work. Typical timing: the scope within 2 workdays, the build in 2 to 4 weeks depending on size, then testing, launch and handover in the final week.
Step 1
The Webflow site’s structure, CMS, SEO settings, scripts, speed and forms reviewed.
Step 2
Classes, components, collections and scripts organized.
Step 3
New pages, features and code components staged and reviewed.
Step 4
Published at an agreed time, checked, and documented for editors.

Our Webflow development experience is smaller than our WordPress and Shopify work, and we say so. What carries over is the developer background: custom code, React code components and a clean CMS structure on a Webflow site are well within reach.
Yes, with custom code in the head or body, and with React code components that designers can place on the canvas.
It can be. Webflow gives control over titles, descriptions, redirects and the sitemap. The results depend on setting them properly and on the content.
Only if Webflow no longer fits: a large catalog usually belongs on Shopify, a complex content model with many integrations may suit WordPress. We compare before recommending a move.
Yes, through native integrations, automation tools or a small custom endpoint, with conversions tracked in GA4 and ad platforms.
Yes, more easily than before. CMS collections and components let editors change content without touching layouts.
AI tools draft code components, alt text and meta descriptions; a person reviews everything before it is published.
