Shopify vs WooCommerce SEO: what each platform lets you control
Is Shopify good for SEO? Yes, and so is WooCommerce: both platforms can rank. This comparison shows what you control on Shopify…
Store development · WordPress & WooCommerce
Kashif started his career as a WordPress and PHP developer, so WooCommerce stores are familiar ground. We offer three paths: WooCommerce development and fixes for stores staying on WordPress, monthly WordPress maintenance to keep them safe and fast, and SEO-protected migrations to Shopify for stores that have outgrown the upkeep.

Free WooCommerce audit
Three fields and you’re done. The PDF report shows what we found on your own pages and accounts, and the order we’d fix it in. It covers the problems we see most often:
Your PDF report comes by email. If you want to discuss going ahead after reading it, we’ll set up a video meeting. We use your details only for this audit.
Fit
Not the right fit for WordPress sites that don’t sell online: those are covered by our WordPress development service, and themes or plugins built from scratch by custom WordPress development.
Problems we fix
Dozens of plugins, some abandoned, some overlapping, each loading code and each a possible security risk.
WordPress, WooCommerce and plugin updates are postponed because the last one broke something.
Database-heavy pages, no caching and shared hosting make product and checkout pages slow when it matters most.
A plugin update changes the checkout and purchase tracking stops, or payments fail for some customers.
Outdated plugins, weak admin accounts and no backups leave the store exposed.
The store limps along on WooCommerce because nobody has compared the cost of staying with the cost of moving.

Our approach
Path one is WooCommerce development: custom features, theme and template changes, checkout adjustments, plugin replacement and integrations, built with WordPress hooks rather than edits to core or plugin files, so updates stay safe. We use the WooCommerce REST API for integrations with other systems, and check compatibility with High-Performance Order Storage on current WooCommerce versions.
Path two is WordPress maintenance for stores. Every month we update WordPress, WooCommerce, the theme and plugins on a staging copy first, test the shop and checkout, then update the live site, with backups before every change. That follows WordPress’s own advice on updating and hardening: current software, strong admin accounts, fewer plugins and regular backups.
Speed is part of both paths. We remove plugins that aren’t needed, set up caching that doesn’t break the cart, check hosting against WooCommerce’s server recommendations, and fix images and scripts on the templates most traffic lands on.
Path three is moving to Shopify. When the maintenance burden outweighs the flexibility, our Shopify migration service moves products, customers and orders with URL mapping, redirects and tracking rebuilt, so the switch doesn’t throw away rankings.
We help you choose honestly. Some stores are better staying on WooCommerce: heavy customization, deep WordPress content, or integrations that would be costly to rebuild. Others spend more on upkeep than Shopify would cost. We compare both on your numbers before recommending either.
WooCommerce development also covers the checkout. Payment gateways, shipping rules, tax settings and checkout fields are where WooCommerce stores most often lose orders after an update, so we test the full checkout on staging with each payment method before anything goes live.
For a WooCommerce store that’s growing, hosting is often the hidden limit. We look at server response times, database size, scheduled tasks and caching, and recommend changes or a move to managed WooCommerce hosting when the numbers say so.
Content stays where it ranks. Many WooCommerce stores have years of blog posts and guides that bring search traffic. Whether you stay or move, we protect those URLs, keep their internal links working and make sure the store pages they point to are fast and up to date.
Tracking runs through all three paths. GA4 and ad platform purchase events are checked after every update and every release, because WooCommerce plugin changes are a common reason purchases stop being counted. That ties into our tracking service. Speed is judged against Google’s Core Web Vitals thresholds: main content within 2.5 seconds, a response to input within 200 milliseconds and layout shift of 0.1 or less.

How we use AI here
WooCommerce work starts with PHP and plugins. AI helps us read, write and test that code faster.
AI helps review what each plugin loads and changes, so overlaps and risks are found quickly.
Custom functions and template changes are written with AI coding tools in a child theme or plugin, then reviewed and tested on staging.
When a WooCommerce store moves to Shopify, scripts check products, customers and orders on both sides.
Where it doesn’t help: core and plugin updates still need testing on staging before they reach your live store.
What’s included
Custom features, template changes, checkout adjustments and integrations, built with hooks so updates stay safe.
Every plugin reviewed for use, overlap, maintenance and security, with replacements where needed.
Updates tested on staging first, backups, uptime and security checks, and a change log.

The real cost of staying on WooCommerce compared with moving to Shopify, for your store.
When it’s the right call: an SEO-protected migration with redirects and tracking rebuilt.

How we run it
Audit first, then the path that fits. Typical timing: the scope within 2 workdays, the build in 2 to 4 weeks depending on size, then testing, launch and handover in the final week.
Step 1
Plugins, theme, hosting, speed, security, tracking and the cost of upkeep reviewed.
Step 2
Development, maintenance or migration, recommended from your numbers.
Step 3
Changes on staging first, tested and released with your approval.
Step 4
Monthly updates and checks, or post-migration monitoring on Shopify.

By industry
Jewelry stores on WooCommerce often rely on plugins for product options like ring size and engraving. We consolidate them so the product page stays fast and reliable.
Fashion stores with large catalogs feel database load first. We look at queries, caching and hosting before adding more plugins.
High-ticket stores often run WordPress for rich content. If that content is the reason to stay, we keep it and make the store side faster and safer.

FAQ
Can’t find yours? Ask on WhatsApp or by email and we’ll answer it.
It depends on how much you customize, how much WordPress content you rely on and what upkeep costs you. We compare both for your store and recommend one, and it isn’t always Shopify.
Updates to WordPress, WooCommerce, the theme and plugins, tested on staging first, plus backups, uptime and security checks, tracking checks and a change log.
For existing WordPress businesses adding a store, yes. For brand-new stores we usually recommend Shopify, because it needs less upkeep, but we’ll explain why for your case.
Usually. Most of the gain comes from removing plugins, proper caching, image and script fixes and better hosting. We measure before and after.
Yes, where a store already uses one. We make changes within it and watch how much it adds to page weight.
Yes. We start with an audit of the theme, plugins, custom code and hosting, document what we find, and fix the riskiest problems first.
Projects are quoted from a written scope; maintenance is a monthly plan. We quote after the audit, once we know the store.
It can be, when WordPress, WooCommerce and plugins are kept up to date, admin accounts are protected and backups are tested. Most problems come from outdated or abandoned plugins, which maintenance deals with.
Yes, as part of WooCommerce development and maintenance. We test renewals and payment methods on staging whenever those extensions update.
Products, pages and blog posts move with their URLs mapped and redirected, so rankings and links carry over as far as possible.
